“I accept my clients without judgment. Regardless of their age or fitness level, I want the people I work with to feel comfortable.”
Jim Lobley
Drawing on years of dance and yoga, my work as a dance/movement therapist, and my studies of fitness training, I evolved Dynamic Movement Training™ as an integrated method of training and conditioning the body.
I am fascinated by movement, and use all sorts of exercises and equipment – whatever is available, really – to challenge and strengthen the body, expand its capacity, and playfully engage kinesthetic intelligence.
The movements and techniques I employ during a training session can be modified for any fitness level or goal, from recovering mobility to improving athletic performance, as the anatomical principles are the same.
Some of my credentials and certifications:
Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy, NYU
Contact Improvisation Teacher, University of Wisconsin – Madison
Certified Personal Trainer, National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM)
Athletic Performance Training Specialist (NASM)
Functional Movement Systems, Level 2
Precision Nutrition, Level 1
Open Water Kayak Instructor, Level 2 (ACA)
CPR/AED Red Cross certified
Strength is an outcome of the body’s adaptation to movement.
Dance therapy trained my ability to sense through movement what another person might be experiencing, and know how to work with that.
I taught HS physics and chemistry for a number of years. Now, I have a passion for helping my clients understand how we move.
Some of the people who have inspired me and embody how I think about movement include:
Jose Limon, Bill T. Jones, Sankai Juku (choreographers/companies)
Helen Walkley, teacher/choreographer
Erwan Le Corre, Natural Movement
Lisa Carrington, NZ Olympic gold medalist, kayaking
Thomas Myers, Anatomy Trains
Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Body-Mind Centering
Naudi Aguilar, Functional Patterning
and so many more…
